Basic Tactical Rope Rappel

*This is a 2-day class, Wednesday & Thursday (16 hours)

Instructors are certified Rappel Master’s who each possess over two decades of real-world experience with SWAT tactical rope operations to include structure descent/assault, airborne rappel, airborne fast rope, and SPIE rigging. All instructors are currently active tactical operators that routinely engage in training law enforcement and military personnel while completing routine training regiments keeping each instructor up to date with current tactical rope operation methodology and practical applications for real world operations.

Class Description

Students will learn basic tactical rope operations to include the following: basic equipment nomenclature, basic equipment requirements, basic science of rappelling, rappelling techniques, belay techniques, structure descent/assault, window or balcony entry, hasty rappel and lock off techniques. If time permits, basic knot tying techniques and Swiss seat techniques will be in presented.

Class requirements

Students will need a basic SWAT operation load out. This should include, at a minimum, a ballistic vest and helmet as well as a tactical combat belt system. It is highly preferred if the student can supply a figure 8 descender, rappel seat, auto locking carabiner, and rappel gloves. All life supporting equipment should have technical specifications stamped onto the equipment when received from the manufacture. If a student is unable to supply the specialty equipment, it will be provided to you for the duration of the course by the instructing staff.
