This class is offered Monday only. 8:00-11:00 am OR 12:30-3:30 pm.

Instructor: Tom Kirkbride

Class Description

This comprehensive training program is specifically designed for Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) who demonstrate a mission-critical need to fly armed on U.S. commercial aircraft. Mandated under Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 1544.219, this course is a requisite for all LEOs fulfilling this unique operational requirement.

The course curriculum delves deep into the rules, regulations, and specific requirements that armed LEOs must adhere to as outlined in the CFR. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the responsibilities and protocols associated with flying armed, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and procedures as set forth in Title 49 CFR Part 1544.

In order to ensure the highest standards of safety and security, the TSA mandates a rigorous assessment process for state and local law enforcement officers seeking to enroll in this training. This vetting procedure is crucial to determine the eligibility of applicants, allowing only those LEOs with a verified operational need to fly armed aboard commercial aircraft to receive this specialized training.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be fully equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively perform their duties while armed in a commercial flight environment. This training not only emphasizes regulatory compliance but also reinforces the commitment to public safety and national security.
