K9 Decoying 101

*This is a 2-day class, Wednesday & Thursday (16 hours)

Instructor: Howard Young

Howard has been training police dogs for most of his adult life. A significant amount of that time has been as a direct employee of the Shelby Police Department in Shelby NC. In his time with the SPD, he procured many dogs and trained many successful K9 teams, maintaining them with weekly training for the life of those teams. Along the way he began working as an employee of the local sheriff’s office as their trainer.  In 2018, Howard and his wife Lisa formed a corporation named White Beard K9, Inc., through which they no longer are directly employed with agencies, but now privately contract those same K9 training services, having added an additional nearby agency. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and experiences, hoping to impassion and broaden the skills of others to be successful in the world of working dogs. Howard’s latest venture has been co-hosting a podcast “The Working Dog Depot Podcast”, which he hosts with his good friend Rich Hardin.  He conducts seminars when possible, and enjoys the travel, meeting new friends in the K9 world and supporting their endeavors through training.
