Close to Mid-Range Target Engagement with Patrol Rifle

Instructor: Scott Shepard & Dave Keortge, International Tactical Training Seminars

Scott Shepard:  USMC combat veteran; currently primary Instructor with ITTS.  Over 18 years combined military and firearms instructor experience. USMC Primary Marksmanship Instructor(PMI); assault climber; Scout-Sniper

Dave Keortge:  LAPD SWAT (retired); currently primary instructor with ITTS.  Over 28 yrs of law enforcement experience.  SWAT sniper instructor; firearms cadre member and instructor; explosive breacher; assault climber and rappel master.

Class Requirements:

    *Have your rifle and pistol zeroed prior to the start of the day         

CLASS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Patrol rifle / carbine with optics 

  •  400 rounds of rifle ammo 

  • Minimum of 3 rifle magazines/ mag pouches Rifle sling. Either single or two point connected  

  • Pistol and holster / duty belt / rig 

  • Minimum 3 pistol magazines 

  • 50 rounds of pistol ammo minimum 

  • Eye protection & ear protection 

  • Soft body armor; plate carrier and / or any other equipment that you normally wear / deploy with  

  • IFAK w/Tourniquet (optional)  

  • Water, snacks, sunsscreen, inclement weather gear 

  • Notebook and writing gear


Class Description

In this advanced class you will train to shoot with measured speed and combat accuracy while engaging targets from close contact out to distance. Emphasis will be given regarding range determination and use of various optics and techniques. You will engage using unconventional shooting positions, utilize barricade support, shooting from cover, shooting on the move, weapons transitions and team movement drills.
